Many cars improved from generation to generation because they incorporate the latest technological and design improvements since the previous generation model was introduced. The new Prius incorporates the latest in Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) technology. The update system is smaller and less expensive than previous HSD technology, although the nickel-cadmium batteries are used. Toyota says it will eventually deploy technology lithium-ion battery for the Prius in the coming years as the technology to take place.
